Article: Position

Position
The eye is impatient.
It decides what it’s looking at long before it understands it.
A body bends backward and we call it surrender. A head falls back and we mistake it for exposure. Space is taken up and we assume someone is asking to be seen.
Nothing is as it seems.
There is a difference between a pose and a position.
A pose performs for the eye.
A position exists whether anyone is watching or not.
The body knows this instinctively. It speaks before language does.
What appears unstable may be perfectly balanced. What appears vulnerable may be entirely deliberate. What appears effortless is often held together by extraordinary control.
A position is never simply where the body is.
It is where a person has decided to remain.
Nikita has always understood that.
She was never designed to disappear politely into an outfit. She occupies space with intention. Longer than expected. Bolder than necessary. Unconcerned with permission.
Not because she wants attention.
Because she has no interest in becoming smaller.
Every story begins with a position.
Only then can perspective change.
Only then can appearances betray us.
